The Education of a Graphic Designer

We worked with Steven Heller on the cover and layout design for the third edition of “The Education of a Graphic Designer”. Revised and updated, this compelling collection of essays, interviews, and course syllabi is the ideal tool to help teachers and students keep up in the rapidly changing field of graphic design.

Taking the book title as our starting point we decided to brush up on the basics and kept it pretty simple.

The cover references both the Bauhaus and early education building blocks, by using primary colors and shapes. The essays are clearly numbered to make it easier to remember and reference them. The typography is laid out on a simple grid and follows the rules of the swiss modernist style.
